WORKING DRAFT
This Privacy Policy is a functional working draft pending professional legal review. It reflects how Fuel Taxi intends to handle personal data at launch but should not be considered the final document until reviewed by a licensed attorney. By using Fuel Taxi during the pre-launch period, you acknowledge this status.
LAST UPDATED · APPLIES TO ALL FUEL TAXI USERS
1. What We Collect
To operate the Fuel Taxi platform, we collect the following categories of personal information:
- Account information. Name, email address, phone number, and password.
- Vehicle and equipment information. Make, model, year, fuel type, license plate (where you've added it), photos you upload, and notes about access.
- Delivery addresses. Home, business, marina, or jobsite addresses you save for delivery.
- Payment information. Card details and billing address are collected and stored by our payment processor (Stripe). Fuel Taxi does not store full card numbers on our own servers.
- Order history. Records of every order — fuel type, quantity, delivery time, the Fuel Pro who fulfilled it, photos taken at delivery, and the final receipt.
- Location data. Approximate or precise device location when you choose to share it through the app. Used to show nearby Fuel Pros and to enable live delivery tracking.
- Device and usage information. Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, time zone, language preferences, and how you interact with the app.
- Communications. Calls and messages routed through the Fuel Taxi platform may be recorded. See Section 6.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Connect you with independent Fuel Pros in your service area
- Process orders, payments, refunds, and disputes
- Provide live delivery tracking and proof-of-delivery records
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Improve and develop the platform, including analytics and product improvements
- Communicate with you about your orders, account, or platform changes
- Send marketing or promotional messages — only with your consent, with an easy opt-out in every message
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax, regulatory, and law enforcement requirements
3. Sharing & Disclosure
Fuel Taxi does not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With the Fuel Pro fulfilling your order. When you place an order, the assigned Fuel Pro receives your name, contact info, delivery address, vehicle or equipment details, and order specifics. This is required for them to complete the delivery.
- With our payment processor (Stripe). Payment information is collected and processed by Stripe per their privacy policy. Stripe handles card storage and fraud protection.
- With our communications provider. Call and SMS routing is handled by a third-party communications platform that may briefly process metadata to deliver messages.
- With cloud hosting and infrastructure providers. Data is stored on encrypted servers operated by reputable cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Cloudflare).
- With mapping providers. Mapping and routing services (e.g., Google Maps) may receive address and location data necessary to display the map and calculate routes.
- For legal or safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect the safety of users, the public, or the platform.
- In a business transaction. If Fuel Taxi is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Upon deletion request, removed within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Transaction records and delivery proof: Retained in anonymized form for at least seven (7) years for tax, audit, and regulatory compliance purposes.
- Communications (calls, messages): Retained for up to 12 months for quality, safety, and dispute resolution purposes, unless flagged for ongoing investigation.
- Blocklist data: If your account is suspended or banned, certain identifiers (email, phone, payment fingerprint) may be retained on a platform-wide blocklist to prevent re-registration, even after general account deletion.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access. Request a copy of the personal information we have about you.
- Correction. Update or correct information that's inaccurate.
- Deletion. Request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Some data may be retained anonymized for legal purposes (see Section 4).
- Portability. Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Opt out of marketing. Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time. Operational communications about your orders cannot be opted out of while you have an active account.
- California residents (CCPA): Additional rights including the right to know specific categories of information collected and the right to non-discrimination.
- Canadian residents (PIPEDA): Rights to access, correction, and complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 10.
6. Call Recording
Calls and SMS messages between customers, Fuel Pros, and drivers are routed through the Fuel Taxi platform and may be recorded for quality assurance, dispute resolution, and safety purposes. Every recorded call begins with an automated voice notice. By using the platform's communication features, you consent to this recording. Recordings are stored securely and accessed only for legitimate platform purposes.
7. Children's Privacy
Fuel Taxi is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and remove the data.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest, access controls, and ongoing monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your data and notify you in a timely manner if a breach occurs affecting your information.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will always reflect the most recent revision.
